Great Offshore Picnic

The Annual Great Offshore Picnic will be held Friday, June 13, 2008 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the famous Georges Island, in Halifax Harbour.

Your ferry ride from downtown Halifax takes you to a 19th century island fort inhabited for an afternoon of oil patch networking and celebration. The "Great Offshore Picnic" is the hottest ticket in town for petroleum types and their suppliers.

On the island, you’re likely to be greeted by a kilted highlander or wandering musician as you talk to business leaders in the petroleum industry and/or government in the region. Wander among the patron pavilions; enjoy the music, sunshine, food and hospitality. This is the one time of the year when the entire offshore community gets together for pure enjoyment.

Surrounding each entertainment tent are corporations in their own pavilions where they entertain and network with their clients.

Georges Island has been the key to Halifax Harbour since 1749, and each year, the "Great Offshore Picnic" pays tribute to those days with regiments of redcoats, musicians, and costumed animators from the period.

Stepping off the ferry, you pick up a map and program, which shows you the way to the most entertaining offshore event of the year.

See you at “The Great Offshore Picnic” in June.
